School Room, again

Recommended Posts

I know this has been discussed, but I am wondering if there is a list somewhere of items to include in a schoolroom, things I can't do without? Next year I plan to redo my office and make it school friendly. It's bigger than my dining room (which is where we currently do school) has lots of light and I just would like form to follow function. Instead of piles of papers to be filed that sit around on my dining room table, I would like to be able to easily put them where they need to go while in the office.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you have an Ikea close by? They have the best organizers IMO. It was worth the 3 hour trip to Ikea to pick up the Trofast storage system. It's held up for years, and it's easy to change when your needs change.

Here's a photo I took of it

I have two tall cabinets set up with two bench height cabinets between. It makes a good "window seat" type area to sit and read or play out. Right no the buckets are out of the bench shelves and use a divided area for each child's schoolwork.

Your setup is super cute! I love that you made a window seat. I LOVE IKEA! Our school room is also mostly IKEA.

I would suggest good storage and organization. This is KEY! I don't put a lot of stuff on the walls because we get distracted by them. On the walls, I would say a map, a wipe board and/or a chalkboard (we have both), a word/number wall (if you need one).

You can see our school room on this post from my hs blog (which I haven't updated in ages).
