Pam "SFSOM" in TN
Okay, another horror of aging - facial hair. . . . Anybody tried electrolysis?? Does it work?? Is it a good idea??? Get laser instead. I had electrolysis, and it did not work *at all*. Nada. And it hurt.
cin
Get laser instead. I had electrolysis, and it did not work *at all*. Nada. And it hurt. :iagree::iagree::iagree: My hair is, thankfully, mostly UNDER my chin, so I just shave daily. Not pleasant, but gets the job done! Kate in Arabia
I met a woman once who had had electrolysis done, and in her case the skin had become very leathery... not saying this will always happen, maybe she did not go to a reputable technician... Rebecca in VA
I think having the electrolysis caused me to have an irregular heartbeat. Something about the shock.... The electrolysis worked just fine, but I wouldn't risk it again.
Twinmom
I had electrolysis done above my lip and on my chin. I had a good experience with it, and the hair has not grown back. Of course, I had a great technician...my sister in law! If your hair grows back, it hasn't been done correctly. Of course, there are risks. If it is done in an area with very sensitive skin, there can be a little bit of pitting. Once, my SIL slipped and somehow the "needle" gave me a black eye. It's never happened to her before or since (and, it didn't hurt a bit!), but I sure did get some mileage out of it! :D
Mommieeeee
My vote is for laser. I have had both electrolysis and laser. The electrolysis didn't work. The laser takes a few times in order to get all the cycles of hair. I noticed a difference after about the 3rd time. Now, there is hardly any hair. It is great! mom2abcd
I think it's a waste of money. I did electrolysis for a couple of years and maybe *those* hairs didn't come back, but plenty others did. A much less expensive option and a much more effective option is to buy an epilator and use that in the comfort of your own home. I have the Braun Epilady. I love it. My friend and her dd started using one a year or so ago and can't believe I didn't tell them about it sooner. They love it, too. Takes care of chin, lip areas, legs, underarms... K-FL
I haven't done laser, but have done electrolysis. I first had it in my late 20's. It does take regular trips to kill all the hair, but it stayed gone until my hormonal-40's. I've been going again, but since we don't have a tech w/in 150 miles, I can only do it when I visit my mom. It does work & it's mucho cheaper (approx. $1/minute) than the laser prices I've seen. BTW, laser doesn't work for everyone, so if you decide that route.
