linders
Like several others, I received a Kindle yesterday and I'm quite pleased with the ease of use, readability, etc. For veterans and for those who just got one, can we share freebie websites, besides the standard Project Gutenburg? My fave so far is Amazon's own list of "Top 100 Free Kindle," a link right at the top of the Kindle store page. I found a winner of the 2010 Christy award (Christian fiction) and a few other bestsellers, as well as some classics and the Hogwart's Christmas Cookbook. Lolly
I've only gotten books from Amazon. Their classics are all free. Their top 100 free is plenty of reading for me!

Their top 100 free is plenty of reading for me! :iagree:I'm a 2 year Kindle veteran and I agree with Lolly. I always check the Top 100 Free as the last thing I do as I am signing off of the computer each night. I think in the 2 years I have had my Kindle, maybe, just maybe, I have spent $50 on books. RoughCollie
Places to find free Kindle books: http://www.amazon.com/tag/kindle/forum/ref=sv_kinc_6 (Happy Reader Joyce posts links to free books as they come up. Check in early morning, especially, since sometimes the books aren't offered for free for more than a few hours.) http://kolorbooks.appspot.com/ (Shows on my monitor in various shades of green & gray. Darkest green books have the highest customer ratings. Little dots on bottom of each icon denote star ratings.) http://dailycheapreads.com/ http://www.thefrugalereader.com/ http://booksontheknob.blogspot.com/ http://www.cyberread.com/ http://www.ereaderiq.com/ (search by Amazon price range. C_l_e_0..Q_c
My husband handed me a USB key containing over 2,000 books he downloaded from the net. Hmmm shhhh.. not all of them are free of copyrights, but he sure got them for free. I'm now busy transferring 2000 books onto my Kindle... I'm a happy camper, hmmm, reader ;)

KarenNC
I got a kindle too, I can't find the top 100 free link. Go to the Kindle store, click on Kindle ebooks on the tab across the top, then look on the right hand side of the page. There's a list of the top 100 paid. Just next to the top tab of that is one that says top 100 free. Click on that. There may be an easier way to get there, but this should work. I received a Kindle, too. I tried this but my Kindle storefront doesn't have any tabs at all, & nothing that indicates a top 100 free list... I wonder why? Thanks for your help. Now that I know where to look I should be able to find it when I'm on Amazon on my Kindle. It's taking me a while to figure out how to navigate this thing. I keep expecting it to work like an Apple product. I think it's going to be great once I figure out how to use it!:D
4them
Ok, I'm looking at my Kindle now. This is how I found the top 100 free on the Kindle: (for newbies like me!) -From the home screen, hit menu & go to Shop in Kindle Store. -Next, click on Kindle Top Sellers. That takes you to the Kindle Top 100 Paid. -Now, if you look in the top right corner of the screen, you will find the Kindle Top 100 Free.:hurray: I've already downloaded 60+ free books between Amazon & Project Gutenberg!:drool5:
