Rejoice! (totally cc :)

Recommended Posts

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining.

Till He appeared and the Soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!

O night divine, the night when Christ was born;

O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Merry Christmas to all!

He who holds the whole creation in the hollow of His hand today is born of the Virgin.

He whom in essence none can touch is wrapped in swaddling clothes as a mortal.

God who in the beginning founded the heavens lies in a manger.

He who rained manna down on the people in the wilderness is fed on milk from His Mother’s breast.

He who is the Bridegroom of the Church calls unto Himself the Magi.

The Son of the Virgin accepts their gifts.

We worship Thy birth, O Christ.

Show us also Thy divine Theophany.

When it snows, as it is doing this year, I love to stand out in the quiet of the midnight and look up at the stars and wonder about that convergence that led magi to seek Him so long ago.... and about the flight into Egypt that would ensue after their visit....

I covet the warmth and safety of a home around me; but He threw Himself into the wide world with no such warmth and safety, even for a babe. It takes such bravery to live the lives He would have us live....
