plansrme
I am looking for a study of Africa for next year and came across this. Has anyone used it? I am interested in your general impressions about whether it was worthwhile. Also, the "about us" of the developer's website says they are involved in a "Christian movement," so I am wondering if there are denominational or political beliefs presented in their products that might conflict with my own. "Christian movement" just struck me as a likely euphemism for something that might not be too popular in homeschooling communities--LDS, maybe? Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with LDS-produced materials, it just made me more wary than if it had just said, "We are Christians." If there are other African studies floating around (besides Konos) that I need to know about, please chime in. Thanks, Terri
Sixmeadows
has a semester unit study on Africa. It looks very fun and interesting. You can get the Teachers manual for $60 or get it in a bag (some crafts included) for $99. I don't know if you can view samples onthe website or not but I saw it at our convention last week. cheri
Deece in MN
I just purchased this at our state hs conference. My dd wanted to study Africa and is very excited about this. I haven't sat down and really dug into things yet, but have read bits and pieces here and there. I like what I have seen so far. The main book is beautiful. It is color pictures on pretty much every page. The layout is appealing and the random bits I have read have been very interesting. I have heard good things about this study, so I am hoping it lives up to what I have heard. So far I like the looks of it, but we won't be starting it for a while so I can't say anything as far as the application of it.
