US Botanic Garden exhibit- Great field trip

Recommended Posts

If you're in the Washington DC area I thought I'd recommend the US Botanic Garden's seasonal exhibit. Every year they have a model railway exhibit that is very fun for kids. It features buildings designed by a landscape architect, Paul Busse who recreates famous landmark buildings out of plant materials. It's hard to describe but really fabulous.

This year the exhibit is all new and features buildings from around the world including many of the ancient wonders of the world: Great Pyramid, Sphinx, Alexandria Lighthouse, Hagia Sophia, Petra, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu. As well as some other well-known buildings like the Eiffel Tower and the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was really fun for my son to see all these buildings we had learned about last year and this year in SOTW. It was amazing to me to realize how much he remembered and recognized.
