I know it's a college text, but it might be very useful for someone like me to better comprehend the scope of world history--it has timelines and maps inside as well as (seemingly) a good overview. Unfortunately, Amazon's preview doesn't really include much of the meat of the book, so I'd love to know if others have seen this. I might try going by Barnes and Noble and looking at a physical copy.... ETA: found a preview on Google Books.
