Can you recommend a good artist eraser?

Recommended Posts

I got my dd a set of artist erasers. They came in a 3-pack that I got at Michael's or Hobby Lobby (can't remember which). There was a gum eraser (it's pliable, like putty. You fold the dirty part inside so you always have a clean eraser). There was a very soft rubbing eraser (can't remember name, but it was gray, and almost cube shaped). I believe the third was either a pink pearl, or a magic rub (white).

I've never seen drawing pencils with erasers. You can get magic rub, white erasers in a pen-shaped holder. The eraser is pushed up with a plunger. These always give a nice, narrow erasing edge.

You can also get her the dusting pad, available in the drafting section of office supply stores (and possibly at Michael's). It's a cloth bag filled with eraser dust. Periodically, she gently pats the pad (no rubbing) over the surface of her drawing. The eraser dust will absorb any loose graphite from the paper, and keep it from smudging. Get a drafter brush too. It's a super soft bristle brush that she can use to remove the eraser dust, without smudging her drawing.

This is my artist dd's favorite. She gets a pack or two every year in her Christmas stocking.
