TXMary2
I have too many words, so all I will say is she has some pretty flawed logic. http://www.ubspectrum.com/life/gone-but-not-forgotten-1.1813226
Princess Peach
Flawed logic, yes. And many other problems, too numerous to list. :glare:
NanceXToo
Yep. Flawed logic sums it up pretty nicely!
LibraryLover
LOL Are there no homeschooled young men to date? ;)
Alphabetika
I don't think I can roll my eyes hard enough to express my reaction to this article. :glare:

Joy at Home
Lol, so the biggest revelation out in the "real world" was that men are really jerks and not gentlemen? How socially inept she must be. Darn Cary Grant movies.
angela in ohio
Maybe she look someplace other than a bar for a date. (The irony here is that I picked up dh in a bar. :D)
Joy at Home
Seriously? I know plenty of young gentlemen who know how to be polite and treat a lady on a date. The whole "paying the bill" thing makes me think that she doesn't give off an aura of expecting to be respected and treated well. If she doesn't know this guy well enough to realize that he has a girlfriend, why was she going to dinner with him? She has some serious issues but I can't say they are homeschooling induced. Exactly. Also, this was published in her college paper. You know, intended audience and all . . .
springmama
Good grief! She has more issues than I care to count and none of them have to do with homeschooling.

AuntieM
Home schooled or out schooled, logic was obviously not part of the curriculum.
kewb
I think, perhaps, her parents failed her by neglecting to teach her that some guys are just jerks. Off to watch a nice Carey Grant movie.......
Kirch
She needs to learn the difference between "ravish" and "lavish." I really *don't* think she meant "ravish me with compliments." :001_huh:

Mom-ninja.
"ravish me with compliments." Oh, too funny. What can I say except I *love* Cary Grant. I have all his movies I can find on Netflix in my cue.
Kim in Appalachia
So her complaint is that she was taught that men should treat women well and with respect, and that she doesn't own designer clothes?:tongue_smilie: That is why homeschooling did not prepare her for "real life". I wonder what she will write in another 10 years, or 20? I do think that as homeschoolers we need to be intentional about getting our children ready for the "real" world, but I didn't think that included designer clothes. Parrothead
Is she blaming homeschooling grades K-8 on her inability to pick decent men to date? That is a bit asinine.
MSNative
I read it as very tongue in cheek - kind of like A Modest Proposal, but not nearly so good. The logic is too flawed to actually be serious.........I really, really hope.
Sparkle
What?! All I can say, is I hope her article was written tongue-in-cheek, because I cannot come up with the slightest connection between being homeschooled and expecting your dates to behave in a polite manner. Or the moral of the story is: treat everyone like cr@p because that is how they treat you.
LibraryLover
Pretty nasty commentary. I doubt any of you would want your college-aged offspring ripped to shreds over a funny little article. So what if you don't agree with her or like it? Geesh, people.
