melissel
I'm trying to break our current habit, which seems to be that after the kid sgo to bed, we sit on the couch--him with his iPad, me with my laptiop--and half watch TV, half stare at the screens in our laps. It's snuggly and companionable, but I'd really love for us to interact more! We used to play Gin Rummy and Trivial Pursuit, but we got kind of tired of those. I'm looking for some new ideas. What do you and your DH play in your alone time? TIA!
KatieJ
My Dd and her hubby play Monopoly Deal. They need the practice as their 7 yr old son regularly beats them. :) Cribbage Mancala
thescrappyhomeschooler
We used to play backgammon. Now we just do our own thing in the evenings. I guess maybe I should try to re-introduce the game time, too.
yellowperch
Chess. We love it. Chess and tea and talk. We also like qorridor (sp). But we do our own things too. I also like my evenings when we are both doing what we want to be doing but near each other and talking.
Dandelion
My DH and I play chess sometimes... Although if you're ultra-competitive, that may backfire. ;)
plain jane
Dh and I actually really enjoy a little Cranium card game called Zigity. I wouldn't pay $30 for it (I think we got ours for $10) but it gets brought out a lot. It is fun but doesn't require a lot of brain power, which is nice with how hectic our days are lately.:tongue_smilie: Another good one is Abalone. Am I terrible if I admit that we sometimes play Wii or PS3 together? :o :D We finished off Super Mario Bros with all the stars and are now trying to unlock all the secrets in MarioKart. I guess sometimes we're just kids at heart. :tongue_smilie: Edited December 3, 2010 by plain jane
JoyfulMama
Scrabble. Canasta. Poker. We've done cross-word puzzles together. Monopoly. We got Blokus for one of the kids for Christmas - can't wait to pull that out with dh, too!
smrtmama
Carcassone is nice.
missesd
Well.... ;) LOL We really liked playing Monopoly, Scrabble, and Battleship online. Atari used to own them on their domain, but sold the rights to Pogo. ETA: We used to play on our own pc's in neighboring areas.
ereks mom
We prefer games that we can play leisurely, rather than games where you race to play your cards or other pieces. We also like to do jigsaw puzzles together sometimes.
Starr
I just skunked him at Cribbage. :D
joannqn
DH and I used to play Scrabble. He's won every game, but three, that we've played over 13 years. Good thing I'm not a sore loser, huh? We used to play Yahtzee too. We've played Wii together at times...usually one of the sports.
Tarreymere
DH and I set a terrible example. We play World of Warcraft together. DD7 says she learned to read so that she could play too, but THAT isn't happening quite yet.
Caitilin
Right now DH is on a cribbage kick, so anyone he can con into playing with him, he will. ;) Other times we play skipbo, gin rummy, Trivial Pursuit. He won't play word games with me, b'c I can take him to the cleaners in those, so we stick to games in which we're more evenly matched. KidsHappen
My hubby and I used to play cribbage and backgamon a lot. Oldies but goodies. We also play one of those games like Settlers of Catan (I can't remember which one we have right now). We also used to play Gobble It! a lot but I got tired of getting my butt kicked on that one. We like doing crossword puzzles together too.
Tylianna
We play two handed euchre. Or if we're feeling REALLY competitive... WAR! hahaha We also learned how to play "golf" with Skipbo cards. We also play skip bo every once in a while, but two handed euchre is our fave.
Garga
Othello. I recently found most of the games on this website at Ollies for $9.99 a game. I bought 7 of them. We're saving them for Christmas, and I can't wait. Most of the games say they take 15 minutes or less to play. I like that.
*Inna*
Poker. :001_smile:
mcconnellboys
Well, we don't play, LOL, but you could buy some port snifters like Denise just did and I'm bettin' you could find plenty of games to play with those....
