JadeOrchidSong
to help prevent viewing porn? I know that the red light (traffic light) does not end traffic accidents if the driver chooses not to stop, but it can help the driver know that s/he has done something s/he is not supposed to do. Is Covenant Eye a good one? I know there is k9 and some others that are free. I am willing to pay some money if it is a very good one. Thanks! anneofalamo
we use K9 on 3 laptops and 2 desk computers I am the holder of the password we have hours set for internet usage and also categories! I block a lot on the laptops as we have set hours (school days) for the internet,(due to using on line classes) if the wrong click happens (usually on accident) a howling dog goes off! The whole family laughs and I get an email to my own email account! MY hubby does not even have the code! We have enjoyed it, can not believe it is free! mytwomonkeys
oh. for porn, you can sign up each computer at xxxchurch.com & they will email you a list of compromising sites that may have been visited for free. we have a very dear couple close to us that uses this accountability feature. my friend is emailed once a week by xxxchurch with a list of sites that may be questionable. they also have safe eyes (but i think K9 is just as good)
Nestof3
I installed K9 on my eldest son's computer. I had to block all images, though, because though the filter will block sites from coming up, it does nothing for the images. So, you could type "s*x" in the google search and see the images without actually going to the site. This caused a problem, because he often needed images for his power point presentations at school. He used my computer or the school's computer for images. I uninstalled his filter since he moves out tonigt. I told him, and his reponse was, "You can keep it on." So, now I'm trying to figure out if I should reinstall it. ugh My eldest son actually keeps the battery for his friend's computer. It is a common problem for young men. I bet very few 20 year olds are telling their mom these things.
Nestof3
See my post about images below. If you don't have images blocked, test it, and you'll see it's not fool-proof. ugh we use K9 on 3 laptops and 2 desk computersI am the holder of the password we have hours set for internet usage and also categories! Ours is on "high" (which I believe is the default) and shows no images...so if you googled "sex", no images come up or anything questionable at all. Nestof3
Yes, I set it to block all images. I wish it could just block the bad images, because we really use images a lot around here for educational purposes. I was saying if you don't block all images, p*rn images will still appear. susankenny
That's weird. I just double checked & pulled up a new window...I typed "sex" & no images came up. I clicked on google images & it blocked me with the dog. Check your settings again & make sure there on "high". You shouldn't be able to see any images. kilo90
We have used Safe Eyes for a few years now. It is not free, but after trying several free filters and getting frustrated with them, we opted to pay for a really good one. There may be some new ones out there that are good & free, but we really like Safe Eyes. It's worth the annual fee to us and can be used on up to 3 computers. http://www.internetsafety.com/safe-eyes-parental-control-software-affiliate.php
Nestof3
Can you please clarify if your K9 is blocking all images or just inappropriate images. Thanks! That's weird. susankenny
Hey Dawn... When I typed in "puppies" at google, I could see images on the top of the page (3 to be exact). When I clicked on google images though, I was blocked by the dog. We have it on high settings though, so we have no google images, youtube, facebook, social networking, etc. My husband has different settings on his computer, where he access to those things though (but his computer still tracks his history that can only be accessed with a password...which we don't need, but I thought that was a very cool feature). Susan ETA - to clarify though, when I typed in "sex", I had zero images pop up....even on the google homepage...so just inappropriate images. JadeOrchidSong
We do use images for educational purposes. So if K9 blocks all images, then I don't think it is good enough. Is there anything that blocks only porn images?

JadeOrchidSong
Is Safe Eyes for adult or kids or both?
Guest momk2000
We used B-Secure for a couple of years and had no problems with it. I did not renew it this year d/t cost. I might try to download the K9 to see how it compares.
