SweetMissMagnolia
:001_smile: Zach was on vyvanse for about 3 months and had chest pains, very bad loss of appetite (lost almost 3lbs),and stomach pains. The chest pain issue is what scared us the most. We even went to the dr 2xs to have him checked out because he was complaining of chest pains-drs couldn't find anything. I even asked if it could be the medicine and got what I think was "a pat on the head" reply...After the last episode of chest pains,he's been off meds almost 2 weeks. And like the 2nd day my son ate a whole ham/cheese sandwich (he's never eaten ham before)-so I was just floored. The next day he ate another sandwich and asked for another! If we do decide to try meds again we are going to go with one that isn't an amph. (if there is one)--we go to his pediatrician and behavior specialist both on Tuesday. We are going to try to get him on a healthier diet (remove food colorings-try to do more natural and less processed)-it would be healthier for all of us too. give me patience LOL :chillpill: it's going to be a bumpy road I think......... Renee in NC
I am so sorry it didn't work for him. :grouphug: Mine has the appetite suppression thing going on, and has lost 5 pounds or so. However, he is 9, right at 5 feet tall, and was about 106 pounds, so 5 wasn't a big deal. He probably eats as much as a normal child now, instead of the bottomless pit he was before! asta
Strattera is different. It is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor rather than a stimulant. It is approved for use in children. a
