Any Amish Friendship Bread experts on?

Thanks! At least I know it's happened to others. I swear, the loaf that my neighbour gave me (along with the starter) a few weeks ago was light and airy and crumbly and wonderful, but my last batch was so dense. THe boys loved it, but I wonder what's happening..

 

I guess I've only had older batches then, because I never knew it was supposed to be light and airy! Gosh, I'm not even sure how much I would like that.... :confused:
