tangomoon
Help! I'm drawing a blank today. We're headed to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow that is 3 hours away, and need to take a couple things along. I'll probably make a pie, but aside from that, what are some good dishes that will travel well for a 3 hour car ride? Thanks!
Laurie4b
Do you have a cooler? I would take cold things and put ice packs in the cooler: homemade cranberry sauce, fruit salad, Waldorf salad, green salad.... Or you could take homemade rolls or bread or pumpkin bread or muffins and forget the cooler :)
Suzanne in ABQ
Do you have a stoneware casserole dish? If so, you could take a casserole of some sort (sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green been casserole, etc). Stoneware holds its heat really well. Leave the casserole in the oven until you are ready to leave. Then, make sure it's covered well with a lid or aluminum foil, and wrap it in a dish towel, then wrap it with *several* beach towels, maybe a small blanket. Place it on the floor of the front seat of the car, near the heater (or inside a cooler). It should still be warm when you arrive.

i.love.lucy
You simply MUST make Heidi @ Mt. Hope's Grape Salad. It's devoured every time I make it, and it's a refreshing thing when there is all the heavyness of the other sides.

Tutor
We are traveling about 2.5 hours tomorrow and somehow we ended up being in charge of making most of the food. Not sure how that happened. :glare: We're bringing: -The Turkey (raw in a cooler, and we'll cook it when we get there) -cranberry chutney -cornbread -flour-less almond cake -coconut macaroons -pumpkin soup (semi-frozen; will add cream and heat when we get there) -burgundy mushrooms -mashed rutabagas Next year, we're going to just offer to have dinner at our house... although I don't know who will come since we don't have broadcast TV and, thus, no football or parade.
