Tiramisu
This is recommended for grades 5-8, but is it better used at the lower end, upper end, or somewhere in between? :)
Sasharowan
We are using it for 4, 5, and 9th grades. I read the chapter, then we discuss examples from books we have read lately and do some of the work in the book verbally. It takes about 15 minutes unless we really get into the discussion and they are all getting it.

amyco
My 7th grader is doing this independently. I had meant to do it with her, but she is faster than I am, and seems to be getting the concepts. I give her bonus points (not real points, just imaginary ;) ) when she points one out from her reading or from conversation.
Granny_Weatherwax
DS is using it. He thinks it is informative - he is new to some of the concepts - but 'babyish'. He wishes they used better examples. I think it is definitely worth the price.
Sunshine State Sue
We used it in 8th grade, but I wish we had used it in 7th - only because it would have fit in easiest with LL7. It might depend most on when you start discussing the literary elements in your own reading. We didn't formally start until 7th grade. swimmermom3
Kelli, it could be used with a younger child but I think 6th grade and older are really the best ages. The first couple of posts on this thread address that issue. It is well worth the money.
