Alessandra
There seem to be a lot of series out there of abridged classics for children. I know some people hate these (and I partially agree), but, if you do use abridged books, what series do you like/dislike? Right now, I'm looking for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for an average 5th grader, but I'd like to get a sense of what the series (Great Illustrated Classics, Classic Starts, etc) are like in terms of level of language, illustrations, and whether the work has been sensitively abridged or butchered.
