joannqn
As far as we can tell, I've unpacked all of my school room boxes yet my grammar teacher's manuals have not be found. Please help. The captain placated the angry crew with promises of long leave. What part of speech is "with"?

Mrs Mungo
He's wrong. It's a preposition. If I'm not off my game - "promises" is the object of the preposition. You could always diagram the sentence so that he can see how the propositional phrase fits in with the rest of the sentence. :iagree:

joannqn
I wouldn't know how to diagram a sentence to save my life. We use MCT which doesn't diagram...at this level, at least. Yes, my 8 year old does tend to think he knows everything. It doesn't help that mom isn't all that great at grammar and he is way smarter than he should be for his age.
