X post: I'm working now and need rec's for workbooks and/or written assignments

Recommended Posts

I'm working part time now. About 25 to 30 hours per week...4 or 5 days per week. After New Year's I will be able to work only 2 or 3 days a week I think. I really need to take as many hours as I can get until we are out from under some debt.

It has been reported to me by my college gal and my dh that the boys (7th and 10th grades) are barely following the lesson plan. I did not realize how much I depend on daily narrations of reading as the main assignment. I need to give them more WRITTEN assignments.

I'm thinking about buying some fill in the blank workbooks so that I can SEE exactly what the boys have done and what they have not done.

Do any of you use workbooks? IF so, which ones?

IF not, what kinds of written work do you assign while you are at work?

I really need to understand how to still homeschool while I am at working part time.

Thanks!

Pam

Pam, not sure what books you are using, but are there guides to go with those books?

Otherwise, "notebooking" is not the same as written narration, and can be more creative. If your children make a notebook page about each major topic, it can be typed up text or it can be hand-drawn maps or it can be charts copied from the web.

My 9th grader is using MFW and that is one program that can be done independently, if need be. The student has a grid to follow, with check-boxes, and the parent has a list of what to grade.
