Sunkirst
I bit ago, I sought information comparing Writing Tales and Classical Writing. The majority of folks recommended WT as it offers fun games and chants, and is much more user friendly. I realized, in looking into it more, that it would cause us trouble. My son is mildly dyslexic, and it takes him much longer to understand many language based concepts. We need to have him determine the speed. Knowing this, I looked into CW Aesop, planning to use it without the workbooks and IM. Well, I have read Aesop, and I understand what I am to do, but I am (unfortunately :crying:) a grammar dropout. I can probably make it through Aesop, but much beyond that, and I will be totally out of my league, grammar-wise. I have just never been able to separate the meaning of a word from its grammatical usage. I remember staring at a word (while trying to diagram), and wondering, "How can this be anything but 'Queen'?" So, I need to teach myself grammar. What is best to use? It is unlikely that I will have much time to work through many exercises, but I will need them (also an answer key!). Would Harvey's Grammar be my best bet? I'm leaning toward it, as that is what is recommended by CW. Has anyone else managed to teach themselves grammar? What's your favorite resource? Thanks All! Susan in SoCal
but, for self-teaching, I prefer Rod and Staff. Maybe pick up Level 6 as a place to begin?
Wendy in ME
I have to agree with Rod and Staff English for self teaching. You won't have to actually write out many exercises and it is very thorough with clearly written explanations.
