# Food pyramid check list

## Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a SIMPLE food group chart that the kids can use to make sure they are eating the right foods. We are trying to let them make decisions for themselves but I want to make sure they know what they are doing.

For lunch, they know that whatever they eat, it has to have a bread, protein, dairy and a fruit/veg. At the very least :) They are the good about it, but I want them to pay attention to their snacks, too. Asking for candy then asking for a fruit snack, then asking for pudding, etc. I say no 9 out of 10 times, because they ALWAYS ask. I think if I let them see this chart, maybe they will ask for a healthier snack.

I found one here: http://teamnutrition.usda.gov/resources/mpk_worksheet.pdf

But, I want one simpler, with a checklist for how many servings they have had of each, with a conversion chart (1/2 c. = one serving, etc)

Anyone have any good resources??

TIA!

Did you ever find one? I'm also interested is such a thing. I have a girl who has gotten into a rut of only wanting broccoli and pasta with lemon juice, salt and evoo. I thought it would pass but for heaven's sake . . . I think it may be time for an intervention!

I'd be interested in seeing what you found.

No, but I am getting some books from the library about it.

I know I saw one SOMEWHERE!!!

BTW, broccoli is not a bad choice anywhere!!!

The Washington State Dairy Council site has a ton of information. Click on "free resources" on the left and there are lots of worksheets. Scroll down to the bottom of that page for "My Pyramid for Kids" mini posters to print.

That site is nice! I saved it in my Health bookmark folder!!

I am still looking for a "chore chart" like food group guide, though. Something that they can put a checkmark or tally mark on that particular food group, AND has what the serving suggestions are.

Maybe I'll just print up a suggestion page and make my own chart lol!
