Question for swimmers

Recommended Posts

More. First, you are probably not going to be able to keep up quite the same pace. You can swim that 25 without having to take a breath. Breathing slows you down. Second, that first 25 is most likely from a dive which should cut almost everyone some time. The flip turn it self is going to depend on the person. Some people are really good at pushing off the wall and doing underwater swimming. Others, not so much. If you were comparing swimming a 50 short course yards vs long course, you will find some people are faster with the flip (short course); others without (long course).

I swim 40 laps (just over a mile) in 40-50 min and I did flip turns because it increased my speed and gave my arms a rest on the wall push off. But I have a terrible time with repeated swimmer's ear and have a perforated ear drum so no more flip turns...only surface swimming.
