keptwoman
My kids are taking over the vege garden this year, I figure that this is a great learning opportunity. So I want to use this as science for a year. I'd like to supplement it with activities aimed to teach them more about biology without it ending up to be bookwork. I'd love some ideas for experiments, reading, websites, DVDs, books etc. TIA.
Rosie_0801
How many different kinds of spud can you grow? Perhaps cooking experiments could lead to figuring out why some kinds of potatoes do and don't cook up well using different techniques? keptwoman
Thanks Rosie, good ideas. Sadly no spuds in this year, but we could definitely give that a crack next year, starch content etc eh. Hmmm Suzanne, thanks for that! Looks great. Resources dont need to be specifically gardening, can be about plant biology too. Just heavy on hands-on rather than workbooky. Any more ideas? keptwoman
Perhaps I should have titled this thread "hands on biology" then I might have got more responses? However, great idea! I love botanical drawing too. Poor kids
