Delighted3
Mine is red plaid with blue letters and on the front a blue box with the words "New Cook Book" written in white. I have used the chili recipe on pg. 376 so much the page has fallen out and I can't find it. If anyone has this recipe, please post it for me. I just need the ingredients, not the directions. Thanks, Joy

awtl
I have the Better Homes and Gardens cookbood from 1996 and the chili recipe is on page 461, but maybe most of it will be the same: 12 ounces ground beef 1 cup chopped onion (1 large) 1/2 cup chopped green sweet pepper 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 14 1/2-ounce can tomatoes, cut up 1 15-ounce can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce 2 to 3 teaspoons chili powder 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed 1/4 teaspoon pepper Hopefully someone with the actual edition you have will write, but if not maybe this will help. BellaMama
Here you go; 12 ounces ground beef 1 cup chopped onion (1 large) 1/2 cup chopped green sweet pepper 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 14 1/2-ounce can tomatoes, cut up 1 15-ounce can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce 2 to 3 teaspoons chili powder 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed 1/4 teaspoon pepper (Perhaps my version is slightly more recent as it was from p. 461 under Soups and Stews.) Delighted3
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That is the one. It makes a great basic chili recipe. I do use chili beans instead of red beans and I sometimes add some salsa and some other spices, but this is a great start for the consistency that we like. Thanks again for your quick replies.
