Hands of a Child Super Membership

I LOVE my membership. I balked at the cost for a long time, but finally decided to try it, and I am glad that I did. There is a free lapbook each month, and sometimes there will be two freebies. There are extensions available on many of the units, and there are periodically members only sales that I have taken advantage of.

We have done many more lapbooks than we would without the membership. If you and your kids enjoy lapbooking, I'd recommend it, at least for one year.

HTH!

I felt it was well worth the cost! We got 1 or 2 free lapbooks a month, a free extra one as a birthday gift, other freebies like notebook pages and extensions. I love the extensions! We did a civil war lapbook and I printed out the slavery extension and it added alot of depth. It included, extra mini books, poetry, copywork, reading suggestions, Bible study, and a trivial pursuit type game. They also offer specials and contests from time to time, I even won an extra 6 months on my membership!:001_smile:

If you've signed up for this, have you found it's worth the cost? $40 seems like a good deal to me, but I'd like to know more before I take the plunge.

It's a good deal if you and your dc are sure you really like to make lapbooks. One of my dc refuses to make the preprinted lapbooks (where the covers have designs and you put your own content in) but doesn't really want to take the time to come up with her own ideas on what to do... the other struggles with trying to be patient enough to work on them ("Here Mom, you do it for me!"). So for us, it ended up not being money well spent.

Do you get to choose the lapbooks each month - are they themed, or just blank and ready to use?

Julie

You do not get to choose what lapbook is free each month. The entire lapbook that is free could be anything on any subject. Sometimes you have to write in the books, and sometimes they offer fill it in. The fill it in are where you can fill in the blanks on the computer before you print it off.

I did pay for a super membership, and it is a good deal if you have older kids. Most of the super membership lapbooks are for grades 3 and up. I didn't want to adjust the lapbooks for younger ages.

I totally agree that the Super Membership is well worth the cost, especially if you consider that many of the larger lapbooks from HOAC are around $20. Getting 12-18 per year for $40 is a steal!

Also, HOAC is having a 35% off sale right now.. I'm pretty sure you can apply that discount to a membership, which would make your savings even greater!

Lastly, if it might help with your decisions, here are the list of freebies this year:

Super Member Units 2008

Jan: Explorers

Feb: Oceans/Oceans PreK

Mar: Simple Machines

Apr: Colonial Life

May: Light

June: Animal Life Cycles

July: Earthquakes

Aug: Animals of the Rainforest

Sep: Industrial Revolution

Oct: Native Americans

Nov: Immigration

Dec: Louisiana Purchase

HTH a little! :001_smile:
