OKCyndi
I see that the Homeschool Buyers Co-op has a good price on Streaming Plus, but still.........it's $199, which naturally makes me pause. Is it something that kids will gravitate to on their own and enjoy for fun (and accidentally learn something). Or, would I have to orchestrate its use (which would probably mean it would fall off my radar screen)? What's been your experience with it? Thanks so much! Peace be with you, Cyndi
Kim in Appalachia
I get more use out of Netflix, and it's less than $10 a month. I had Discovery streaming 1 year. We found the quality of most of the videos grainy and not enough good options. I think it was a huge waste of money. Just my .
MIch elle
We used it heavily for a few years and the video quality was very good! Many people buy it and don't have enough time to use it but we used it for history, science, literature, and fun programs too. I loved watching PBS videos whenever I wanted. We have Netflix too and it doesn't have nearly as many PBS videos as DS.
jplain
For younger kids, I prefer Cosmeo, which is is a subset of Discovery Education Streaming. It's a $10 per month subscription which you can cancel at any time. They also offer a 30 day free trial.
MaMa2005
We use it all the time. It is a wonderful way to introduce a subject/topic and/or cement it once it has been taught. I am lucky enough to live in a state where it is free, but I think I would still purchase it, especially if I had more than one child.
