HappyGrace
Not sure how many I should stock up on?! Thanks!
GinaPagnato
30 days from the lay-date, is what I've always been told.
ondreeuh
It depends on if they've been washed - if they have, the protective bloom has been removed and they should be eaten within a month. If they are unwashed, they can last longer. I'd get 3-4 dozen. Enjoy!
HappyGrace
They are not washed, only rinsed slightly IF they have manure, etc. on it. So about how long would "longer" after 30 days be, approximately? A week?
DarlaS
They sure don't last long here! I'm so glad we have our own chickens now; I could scramble up 8-10 eggs a day. Then there's baking... My just turned 7 year old tolerates eggs from the store, and willingly eats a big pile of these.
HappyGrace
Exactly! I want to stock up because we hate the store bought since we've been getting these! It's FAR to the farm though.
mcconnellboys
Weeks and weeks, if not used and kept in a nice, cold fridge....
Matryoshka
A loooong time. Way longer than a month. Even the nasty commercial ones last longer - there's a whole scam where they take the unsold eggs back and put them in new cartons with new due dates. There was a whole exposé a while back - it may be they're not allowed to do that anymore, but that went on for years and years. Just put the egg in a container with water. If it sinks, it's good. If it floats, throw it away.
torikei
If you just wipe bad spots off--they will keep for a long time--months!
