lisabees
Ds and I are heading to Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity tomorrow. We weren't going to stay overnight, but I'm starting to wonder if we should. Any recommendations for reasonably priced, safe hotel?
KingM
We've stayed at the Hotel Harrington a couple of times. Not fancy, by any means, but safe and clean and centrally located, not to mention reasonably priced.
jplain
I think you're going to have a tough time finding anything reasonably priced that day in DC. It sounds like this rally is going to be huge. I checked the two inexpensive hotels that I'm familiar with, the Americana in Arlington and the Holiday Inn Express near the National Arboretum. The Americana is booked, and the Holiday Inn Express has rooms starting at $380. Edited to add: I just checked the Hotel Harrington for you, and they're booked too. lisabees
Thank you both! Just thought I'd check. Would have been fun to stay a little longer with ds17. Thanks again. :001_smile:
DarcyB
We stayed at the Howard Johnson's across from the Wateragate - on the edge of Georgetownm in Foggy Bottom...within about 1/2 mile of the subways (it was a bit of a walk). It was reasonably priced back then. ETA - well looks like it's no longer a HoJo..may not even be a hotel there anymore..so that was useless info - sorry :( Edited October 29, 2010 by DarcyB
Luckymama
Have you checked on expedia or another booking engine to see what is available? If you have a few names, maybe people can help id the hotels as good or not. And I am so jealous that you get to go. My ds17 would love to be there! JaniceO
We stayed at the Comfort Inn Ballston when we were there this summer. It was about a 15 minute walk (that's with 4 kids) to the metro station. It's safe and clean (we walked from the metro at night and I felt perfectly safe and I'm a freakazoid about that stuff, lol). I checked it out though and it's $230 for tomorrow night :001_huh:. We didn't pay that much when we stayed there, but it's probably a decent rate if something is going on.
