Sahamamama
How do I pronounce this little boy's name? Thanks! His parents are from Ireland. I don't want to sound ignorant, even though I am, LOL. :001_huh: Seamus

SonshineLearner
Kinda "Jay-mus" Seamus "shay + muss" James The Irish version of James. Many well-known Irishmen have been called Seamus including the 1995 Nobel poet laureate Seamus Heaney. The Nobel prize in Literature was awarded for his "works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past." elegantlion
Think of the name Sean, like Sean Connery, the beginning is pronounced the same way.

Clear Creek
I know a kid by that name and his parents pronounce it shaw-mus. I don't know if that is the traditional way it is pronounced, but that is how they say it.
Sputterduck
Shay-mus, but it's not a hard sh. What would a soft sh sound like? I don't think I've ever heard one.
Sputterduck
Thinking about it, if you say it the way the Irish do, it'd be more of a Sheh-mus. But in America, with an American accent it's more of a Shay-mus.
Sahamamama
Thanks! I came right out and asked, after all. It's SHAY-mus, with a bit of a J sound on the SH, if that makes sense. It sounds like a cross between SHAY and JAY... mus. ;) He is such a cute and sweet little boy, I wanted to say his name the right way. Thanks!
