Great $1.00 deals at Scholastic

Recommended Posts

It's very helpful when it comes to reproducing -- esp. these little books and things the kids make in the Explorer and Penguin books.

Many of these are also out of print, so it is the only way to get the book without paying a fortune.

thanks for this...just know that for your $1:00 you are buying a pdf file, not the actual book. I can't decide if I would like that or not. My problem with computer files (instead of books) is I forget I have them and then they don't get used.

Are you signed in? You need an account first.

there were several that I tried to load into my cart and they wouldn't go...do you know why? Is there a limit...or are those items "gone"...although I have never understood who a pdf file could be "gone"....any thoughts??

They are hands-on activity books:

I think you can view them on their website or on Amazon. I've used both of them, and they are a lot of fun.

I have two: The Giver and the Island of the Blue Dolphins ones.

The Giver one includes:

Summary

character list

about the author

vocabulary

Chapters 1-7:

What happens

discussion questions

cross-curricular activities

similar format for other groups of chapters

project possibilities

I would say if you couldn't find discussion questions online for free, $1.00 is a great price. We haven't read the two books I have the guides for,

Hey Dawn,

Have you used any of the Scholastic Book Guides? I'm wondering if they're any good...

Thanks for the heads up :)
