HappyGrace
"bigger kid" pictures with plenty of detail BUT that have a variety of types of pictures to color-I think the Dover books are mostly just one topic for the whole book, which my dc hate. They like a variety. This is for 5th and 2nd graders. They like to color detailed pictures with colored pencils. Here is the page they've been working from, but I want to get them a BOOK with coloring pictures like these for Christmas (scroll down): http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/around_the_world_coloring_pages.htm This is an awesome site for coloring pages, btw! Lots of others besides the one I linked.
stripe
Could you buy several and then they mix and match? Otherwise, how about these? They look like a variety http://www.amazon.com/Around-World-Coloring-Book-Winky/dp/0486439836 http://www.amazon.com/Walk-Woods-Coloring-Dover-Books/dp/0486426440 http://www.amazon.com/Old-Fashioned-Farm-Life-Coloring-Book/dp/0486261484 http://www.amazon.com/Another-Grown-Ups-Coloring-Gladys-Scanlon/dp/142593482X/ http://www.amazon.com/Art-Masterpieces-Color-Paintings-Botticelli/dp/0486433811 http://www.amazon.com/Wonders-World-Coloring-Dover-Books/dp/0486430448
Brigitte
Usborne has doodling/coloring books that have a lot of detail. They are not "serious" books, but my girls love the detail and the creative license they can take with those. Here is a link to the regular one: coloring book They also have a Christmas version. HappyGrace
Thanks, Stripe, these are all Dover. I hadn't thought of buying several...that's an idea! I would prefer to find one that's a variety if possible though. Brigitte-I think that looks pretty good, but they like more realistic than doodling type. I had gotten them some mancala (I think they're called?) which are just designs and they didn't like those at all. Thanks though!
cjzimmer1
Could you just print off a bunch from the site you linked and have them bound into a book at your local office supply store?
stripe
I realize those were all Dover books, but they seemed less "themey" than the others. Also there are the books by Taro Gomi (doodles, squiggles, and scribbles, and others besides) and other so-called doodling books. How about Herve Tullet's books? Ruth Heller's (she has some about seasons with a variety of topics)?
momtotkbb
My 14 yo dd loves to color and draw. We have not had any luck in finding color books w/ various themes w/in one book. She likes the Heller and Dover books. She also has a search set up for detailed color books on google and she looks at various images either to print or to see what books they are in and makes a list for me to purchase. Caroline
There are lots of free coloring pages on the Internet. Could you print them and have Kinkos or the equivalent bind them for you? Then your kids would have unique coloring books made just for them.
EppieJ
Anamalia? There is a coloring book that goes along with that "story". Lots of detail, fun pictures although not "real". http://www.amazon.com/Animalia-Coloring-Book-Graeme-Base/dp/0810926334 I think Dover has the best coloring books as far as that goes, at least that I've seen. I agree with just buying a variety. If you're really ambitious you could cut the bindings so you have individual pages, then rebind them as variety books.
