wy_kid_wrangler04
Do I need to get ETC 1? I have 1 1/2 on the way will that be ok or is book 1 a prerequisite to 1 1/2?
arstephia
The whole books are usually used. The 1/2 books are used along with the whole books for extra work if the student needs more practice in certain lessons. They aren't really meant to be used one after the other, but in tandem. If you have 1-1/2 already coming, you could use it but then go on to book 2.

Jennefer@SSA
Do I need to get ETC 1? I have 1 1/2 on the way will that be ok or is book 1 a prerequisite to 1 1/2? Each half book cover exactly what the whole book before did. It simply offers more practice. It depends on where your child is as to whether or not you will want to do 1 first. For me, one of the strongest aspects of the ETC program is all the repetition the kids get. Mine do all 8 whole books and all 6 half books as well. I am not into overteaching much but phonics and math - YEP! I think that the extra time and effort it takes to really get all this cemented in pays off huge when they get older b/c their reading/spelling foundation is so solid. Long answer to a short question, huh?! :D I guess I would simply say, it depends on what you are wanting from ETC. If it were me then yes I would want to do Book 1 first. BTW if this is your first go round at ETC I have a blog that will post on Wednesday all about ETC and my thoughts on how to get the most out of this great curriculum! :)

I am going to order book 1 when I make my rainbow order if I do not find one used first! I am like you- solid foundations pay off 10 fold! :D

Sorry about that...long answer to the wrong question!!! :D:D:D Yep, you can do 1 1/2 first before 1. The half books are a little bit more challenging than the whole books so 1 will be a bit easier than 1 1/2 even! :)
