another, would you eat this, thread

I made meatballs and mashed potatoes last night for supper (around 6:00)...then after supper (about 6:45) I cleared the table and the food was still pretty hot, so instead of putting the leftovers away right away, I left them on the counter to cool...well, I forgot about them until about 9:30...did I leave them out too long to reheat them for supper tonight???

I grew up with a friend that never put leftovers in the fridge! They left EVERYTHING out overnight on the counter. Oddly if you sneezed she would make you run in the bathroom and wash your hands...but food on the counter was okay. No you are safe. It wasn't that long.

i'm usually quite cautious with meat (i'm a vegetarian myself but the rest of the family is not) ~ but given what it is and the relatively short time frame...i'd prolly be okay with it.

ETA: if you think about it, potluck dinners often have food out on the table/etc for a couple hours while everyone is eating & chattering.

I'd eat and serve them the family.
