cin
Ok, my duaghter wrote a report on Italy, and the teacher wants her to check on the name of the mountain range. We took all of the info off of the internet (which I know isn't ALWAYS right, but it was a travel website?) The report reads: Most of Italy is covered by the Dolomite Mountains, which are poart of the ALps. The Po Valley is just south of the Dolomite Mountains ans is fertile farmland. I've searched quite a bit and I can't seem to find any other name for them....TIA!
Ester Maria
They're just called Dolomites (in Italian le Dolomiti). Sometimes they're also called Monti Pallidi, but don't ask me why, there is some legend about it. I've never heard anyone translating that expression to any other language, though. The mistake might be not in the name, but in writing they cover "most" of the Italy, which is incorrect. Susie in CA
I think the name is correct, however, most of Italy isn't covered by the Dolomites--only a part in the north of Italy. There is long mountain range going right down the boot called Apennines. Maybe that's what she is looking for. Susie
JaniceO
The Apennines are the range that covers most of Italy. It runs right down the center all the way to the boot. The Dolomites only cover the northern part.
