katilac
5" or 7" or bigger I want: a useful calendar, note taking abilites, task list, alarms, must be easy to read. Basically, I want to replace a paper planner and notebook, and my itouch is just. too. small! Not really practical to type or view lengthy notes, calendar's too small, etc. The ipad might work, but I really don't need to watch movies, etc. If there is something cheaper that handles my key needs, I'm fine with that. Any ideas?
dansamy
There should be some good Android tablets hitting the shelves near Christmas time. However, you can get Chinese iPad knockoffs on eBay, which are underpowered Android tablets with no access to Android's Market for apps. Not really a big deal if you don't want apps on there anyway. Archos plans to release their tablets of sizes ranging from mini to netbook size by, hopefully, the end of October. Looks like the Archos 7 home tablet might be just the thing for you. I'd really wait until around Thanksgiving, honestly. A lot of manufacturers are putting finishing touches on their tablets and will release them in time for the holiday shopping season.
