I didn't buy the TE for the 1st book, but I made sure to buy it for all the subsequent books. There are lots of pages in the student book that say "teacher will dictate list of words to student." That would be fine if it was just a list of words to write down, but much of the time, those words are used for the next exercise, so you have to go through the entire list to figure out which words fit the exercise and then make sure to use those for the dictation.
