SallyMac
Is there a text and/or workbook for French in Action that goes with the tapes (dvds?), and where can I purchase these inexpensively? Ds has taken one year of high school French and one year of French at the university. However, he took NO foreign language this year, opting for that other language that is so useful to finding employment...computer science (CISCO Networking and web design). But I am afraid he will get too rusty in French before picking it up again either in college or his last year of high school. BTW, our local high school is going to give him one semester credit for each of the semesters he successfully completed at our 4-yr university. I've called around to the public universities and even called a couple of Ivy League universities and they look at this as one semester in college (while a high school student) as the equivalent of one year in high school...."it's the standard" was how a guidance counselor at Brown U. put it. Too bad the local-schmocal high school will only give him half of that.
Jane in NC
Is there a text and/or workbook for French in Action that goes with the tapes (dvds?), and where can I purchase these inexpensively? The videos are streamed on the Annenberg website. You can also purchase the CDs, textbook, workbook and student guide there as well as on Amazon. If you google the ISBNs, you may be able to find inexpensive used copies of the books. Also, the course formerly used tapes, not CDs. Those might also be available on the used market. mooooom
I googled used textbook sales and found all sorts of sites that had them listed - and pretty inexpensively. I did decide to splurge on the cds (instead of the tapes) and had to buy them at Annenburg but I did see used tapes around. Don' t forget, when you find the used texts at a good price - google the name of the store with coupon - sometimes I find extra discounts that way.
