Jane in NC
I found a Hearthsong Melody Harp and five packages of music on the used market for a nominal sum. Small problem though. I need to replace the string which does not look complicated. But is there a trick to tuning the harp? Anyone know?
elinnea
I found a Music Maker harp at Goodwill a few months ago. I believe it is made by the same company as the Melody Harp. Mine was also out of tune. If you don't have a tuning key there are several places online to get one (I recommend the heavy duty one) and also replacement wires. If you can tell which string is out of tune just use the tuning key to tighten it very very slightly. Alternatively I believe they sell tuning sheets. HTH! :001_smile:
StephanieZ
OOPS. Sorry, I thought you were talking about a 'normal' harp. . . Sorry. . . Edited September 30, 2010 by StephanieZ
annlaura
OOPS. Sorry, I thought you were talking about a 'normal' harp. . . Sorry. . . Hehe. Tuning a CG is a pain. And you are brave to have done it. I learned to tune by ear first. Has your DD learned about temper tuning yet? Just more fun to watch out for... To the OP, check your pile of song sheets. There might be a tuning sheet in it. My mom just found us one (from Belarus!) at Goodwill too. :D In the sheets there is one that has one a side for string replacement, and the other side for tuning. If you get desperate, pm me and I can mail you a copy or take a pic of it for you. Sometimes drummers use the same type of tuning key, so any local music/guitar shop should have one that's workable. Brilliant! I found a tuning sheet in the music sheets as you predicted. Thanks to everyone for their help. Those of you looking for a Melody Harp/Music Maker, apparently now is the time to find them on the used market!
