Luckymama
Just going through the ancient Egypt plans I had written out over the summer, writing down what will be covered each day this week. I want dd to read The Golden Goblet but I want it to be read the day(s) we cover that exact period in history. Does anyone know when the story is set? Like which pharoh was in power? Or general "2nd intermediate period" etc? We'll be in Egypt for several weeks------------combining the two chapters in K12 Human Odyssey with the entire The Ancient Egyptian World (Oxford Press) plus several Dig and Calliope magazine issues, various library dvds, a few other book and online resources, culminating in a field trip to see the special Cleopatra exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia :001_smile: I have an issue in wanting the literature to fit into the correct time slot :D
brownie
It's been awhile, but I can at least tell you I recall that it takes place after they have ceased building pyramids and utilizing the "Valley of the Kings"...I think that is what it was called. ABQmom
We just finished reading this book. Great book by the way. Very exciting. They talk about making jewelry for Queen Tiy and eventually meet her at the end of the book. Maybe this link will help you pinpoint the exact time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiye
Kirch
Queen Tiye is mentioned in SOTW chapter 12, which covers the Middle Kingdom--we just read it today! :D So the pharaoh would have been Amenhotep III. The Golden Goblet is wonderful--hope you enjoy it!
