s/o flying - taking meds internationally

Recommended Posts

Since it sounds as if many of you fly a lot...

DH has to fly to India (trip on hold, we don't know when he's leaving) for work. He's on several meds that he will need to take with him in his carry on. I think he needs to take them in original containers, he thinks just putting them in those week long organizers is fine. Which do you think? Some things he takes are Rx and some are OTC (fish oil, D3).

Thanks!

Consider this:

"Sir, you do not have any proof that these pills are perscription medications. At this time you are under arrest for international drug smuggling."

Even if the meds are tested, his doctor called in, etc., and so forth to finally prove the meds are meds, does he really want to go through that kind of hassle?

Definitely agree - keep them in the original containers. The doctors note isn't a bad idea either. I think the airline recommendations also say to keep them together in a ziploc baggie in your carry-on. When we flew to Greece, we had to remove any medications from our carry-on and put them separate on the belt. This was a lot easier with them in a baggie.

Just wanted to add - my dh is leaving Sunday for a business trip to India.

BTDT - DH is T2 Diabetic and we have a TON of meds. We fly internationally frequently. We ALWAYS carry them in the original containers. I will let him have his usual day's worth in his pill organizer, but the bottles are in his carry on should anyone question him.

Don't risk it. Sort/Organize once he's there.

I would definitely leave them in their original containers, although I don't think a note from the Dr. is necessary. I've flown internationally with meds quite a few times, and have never been asked about them. But then again, they were always in their bottles that came from the pharmacy.
