Pulling Kids out of School

How much notice should I give the teacher before I pull my kids out to home school them? I have decided to go ahead and do it because things are going so well with my son. We have no problems with the teacher or class and have been happy so we really want to do this the nicest and most respectful way possible. This was my son's favorite teacher and we requested her and like her very much. I am planning on calling her to tell her that this is only about positive things in our family and not anything negative with the school or class but I'm wondering if it is better to give her a week's notice or just a few days? They are in first grade if that makes any difference.

I would first look into my state's homeschool law, and I would not give the teacher notice before giving any to the district (if required by law). If I were to give the teacher any notice at all, I'd just do it a few days' ahead.

We pulled my dd from an excellent school and a great teacher in 1st grade. We made the decision over Christmas break, so we only returned to the school was to do withdrawal paperwork, and I was able to speak briefly with the teacher at that time.

I really think it depends.. If you have a good relationship with the school and teacher.. I'd give a few days notice so that they can say goodbye etc..

In our experience.. I did not give notice.. My son was in a bad situation and I was truly fearful that letting them know we were pulling him would place him in a worse situation.. so we kept him home and delivered the notice..
