plain jane
I'm looking for some ideas for reading for my grade 1 student who reads above grade level (how above, I'm not sure :tongue_smilie:). We're doing VP's First Favorites but it's not that challenging so I'm looking for a bit more. I've considered just doing reading the WTM way- read, then narrate in a notebook but I'd like a bit of variety and I do like that VP has questions specific to the story as it allows the program to be used independent of me reading all the books and checking narrations for accuracy. :D I'm not looking for anything with phonics integrated (such as CLE reading for they younger grades) as I've already got that aspect covered. I'm looking for literature for grades 1-3 that come with basic questions or *some*thing to enhance their reading experience. I'm also in need of what to have the younger crowd reading. We're at about the Magic Treehouse/Boxcar Children level. I wouldn't want anything too much harder for now.
meet me in paris
The Sonlight reader packages have discussion questions and mapping. You could look at 2Adv or 3 (the 2Adv are actually a little harder than the 3). Readers 3 are American history themed, but the 2Adv are just 3rd-4th grade level books. If you're already with Veritas, they have great Comp Guides for novels... why not stick with that? Maybe do the First Favorites with your youngers and get a novel guide or two for your advanced reader.
