A Poll of Utmost Importance: Will I Kill this Plant?

If I get one of those beautiful, blooming hydrangeas from the floral section and plant it in my yard, will it live?

I have to say, they won't let me buy plants anymore. I must be on some list somewhere. I'm a serial plant killer. There. It's out. Good luck. I have no advice. My sister, on the other hand, plants 'em, grows 'em and even arranges 'em perfectly. Grrrr. I'm taller and have bigger books, though. :D

I love hydrangeas. Go ahead and give it a try or why not get a cheap one at Home Depot? It's very hard to kill one unless you are really awful to it. Lace caps are my fav.

I love Hydrangeas, they're one of my favorites. I say that it will do just fine. They really are very hardy plants. Now, don't prove me wrong!! :tongue_smilie:

Plant it according to label instructions and make sure it gets plenty of water during dry weather. It'll do fine.

 

Make sure the plant can sustain your winter. Some hydrangeas are only hardy in the warmer zones.

I know it will live, because I am contemplating doing the exact same thing. Even though I am a serial plant killer , this time will be different! Right??? My neighbor has a hydrengea and it is beautiful, I just keep looking at it and thinking about having one. This time our plants will thrive, we will remember to water them(but not too much) and our neighbors will seek us out for gardening tips.:001_smile:
