Dinsfamily
I've been wanting to start Spanish with my oldest for awhile but the opportunity hasn't presented itself. However, I have a friend who wants to trade tutoring. She'll work with my older boys on Spanish while I'll tutor her ds in Algebra 2. I'm so excited! I've looked at Spanish curriculum in the past but always with the idea that I would be teaching it. I don't speak Spanish and would be learning alomg with them. My friend is a native speaker. She'd like a curriculum just to focus the short amount of time she'll have them. So any suggestions? Both of my boys are fluent readers but the 4yo doesn't write much yet. I'd probably be more interested in something that promotes conversation and vocab right now.
JenC3
I'm using La Clase Divertida for my 4 yr old and almost 7 yr old. They love it!
Cindyg
Elementary Spanish. This is available for free on the University Channel on Dish network or through United Streaming. Or Salsa, which is also free on Georgia's public education station, but others can get it online sometimes. Google. And we liked La Clase too. Lots of good resources out there right now. Dinsfamily
I've considered both of those to use myself. Right now, I'm looking for more of a guide for a native speaker. Any videos wouldn't take advantage of her expertise.

Omma
We are loving the 'Puertas Abiertas' DVD's here. The mom says in Spanish, "What does such and such animal do?" and then the dad (Pepe) and their 2 cute boys walk around flapping their arms, or swinging their trunk or pursing their lips like they are swimming, etc. During the week everyone watches the same DVD lesson, and one day in the week there is an audio CD to listen to and try and answer the questions that are in Spanish, to show comprehension (while looking at black and white pictures in a workbook). It is simple and very fun! Pepe is a riot, especially when he is imitating how a big chicken walks and talks! :D My dc are in 5th and 3rd grade and they like it a lot, but it can equally be used by both younger and older dc. I have an MA in linguistics and I was particularly drawn to this curriculum by another linguist's review of the program, and I heartily recommend it as well! :) Brenda
