sunriseiz
Hi all, Does anyone have experience testing through the local school system? I am trying to figure out what the cons might be before we go that route with DD instead of private testing. Thanks! 2smartones
The only "experience" I have is a phone conversation where they told me they won't test my kids. They only provide testing to struggling kids, so if your child is advanced (even if a LD is suspected), they don't have the time or money to work with you. :glare:
Chocolate Lover
Getting the testing done can be a real process with many meetings, and take many months to start, and to complete the process. However, schooldistrict's procedures do change. Last year I was told it wouldn't start for 5 months. This year DS already has referral to be tested after his reading skill was assessed at 12th grade level.
sunriseiz
Thanks for the replies. Here, they have to test because it's a 'disability'; but I can see how they could drag it out forever if they wanted. I am just a little concerned about the possibility of opening a can of worms by getting involved with the school system at all. Maybe we'll just put it aside for now. Thanks again!
