dkt320
Hi Everyone, I have an 8 yr old son who is struggling with reading. Is Ordinary Parents Guide something that I can pick up in the middle and use with him? Thanks! Donna
golfcartmama
I have with my son! He is almost 8. We started near lesson 80 for review and do two lessons per day. He knows nearly all of the words already, but I see his fluency improving and it's filling in some gaps in phonics instruction for him b/c they didn't teach hardly any phonics in ps. Xuzi
I started using it with my Kindy kid who was already reading the lower level BOB books, and we started with the letter-blends section. Many of them she already knows, so we skip them, but the trickier ones, like "thr" "shr", have been good for her to have specific practice with. Especially since she has some issues with pronunciation, so this lets us practice both her reading AND speaking skills.
skaterbabs
Absolutely. Because of teh format, I think it's an exellent tool for helping the older student learn phonetic rules without making them feel babyish.
Adrianne in TX
I have a DD with the same issue, I have used OPGTR along with various readers and the DIBELS program (free google it)--it is a 3x a day 1 min a day read for fluency--it has worked well for us so far.
