blessed2fosteradopt
I am looking for suggestions for Progeny Press study guides & books for my 10 yo reluctant reader son. He loves "all things" boy and we will be doing Ancient History this coming year if that is helpful at all. We have not read anything *sigh* that is offered by PP so I am open to all suggestions. I am looking to use between 4-5 guides this year. So, what would you choose? I want stories that will leave him wanting more as I am trying to foster a love of reading in him. Thank you! angela in ohio
I would do: Bears on Hemlock Mountain (grade 1-3, but would be a good start if he is really reluctanant) Farmer Boy Mr. Popper's Penguins Stone Fox The Cricket in Times Square
inquirer
I like Tom Sawyer, Holes, Redwall and Shiloh. My son loved all of those books. edited to add: I picked from the Middle School List
Chris in VA
About what grade level is he reading on? I ask because there's a difference between reluctant readers and readers who aren't on grade level (you can be both or one or the other). blessed2fosteradopt
He reads on a 6th grade level. I should've included that information. Thanks for asking.

Skip The Bears on Hemlock Mountain and end the year with The Swiss Family Robinson (gr 7-9.)
Hoggirl
We just read this aloud, and my ds loved it. Didn't do a guide with it though. It is set during the ministry of JC so would probably tie in with your ancient history toward the end of the year.
Sarah CB
We loved the Bronze Bow as well and PP literature guides are my favourite : ). Sarah
blessed2fosteradopt
Thank you, ladies, for your suggestions. I just purchased the Bronze Bow book. It seems like it will tie in great. I am looking into the other recommendations. Any others?
