Country Mouse
My ds9 is having a TERRIBLE time with trying to use the RS drawing board and drawing tools. He just does.not.get. it. It is making me crazy and ruining our math lessons and good math feelings. Has anyone else run into issues with dc not taking to these drawing lessons? Will I being doing too much harm just skipping them? I'm really on board with the RightStart methods but this is making me nuts. Please help! I think you can skip them, help him draw them, or draw them for him. As you continue you will be drawing and doing perimeter and area, so at some point they need the drawn object. I don't think that is till E, though. Geometry is pretty much all drawing, so that one you will probably skip. My oldest two don't like the drawing, but I make they do it anyway. I did have to work with them for a while in order for them to learn how to use all the parts. My oldest agreed to doing Geometry because the RS approach makes so much sense to her, but she is going to only do one lesson a week while doing Pre-Algebra. I got lucky with my 3rd dd and she loves it! The funny thing is that it is probably because she is the least picky about getting it just right. Thus she likes it but her creations are a bit skewed from what they should look like. Oh well! Heather
Country Mouse
Thank you, Heather. I have been doing this all day :banghead: I really like the idea of helping him do it. I need to relax.

Now she does it almost entirely on her own (I do hold the t-square in place for her sometimes though). She wasn't crazy about those lessons at first either, but helping her and gradually increasing the amount she was doing on her own made the difference. She chose to do the RS Geometry rather than a different program.

I would much rather do that than skip them, and this sounds like a way we can both keep our sanity. :D Thanks.
