creekland
Ok, I learned something new today and figured it could be best to share. As many may know, my middle son is aiming toward science research or possibly pre-med. Today we signed him up for an EMT Basic course offered through our local cc. While doing so, the lady doing the signing up told us that this course is now REQUIRED (rather than recommended) by many colleges and medical schools (assuming a pre-med path, of course - not for all students!). They are getting many teens taking the course (minimum age is 16) so they don't need to combine it when they are taking a tougher college load. I didn't know this before and just happened to decide it was worth the time commitment and $300 his junior year to better help him decide if it's the path for him or not. Others might appreciate knowing ahead of time for planning purposes. It would be tougher to take it when taking a full college load IMO. It's a big time commitment (two 4 hour nights a week and 2 Saturdays from Aug 23 to Jan 5 in his case).
