disgal
I have all the books for 9th Grade BJU Science and some of the "materials needed" lists are easy....ie. bleach or baking soda, etc. But obviously there are lots of things I don't have like glasses, microscope, some chemicals. Anyone out there use BJU Science for high school? Can you just find some of the things locally? Should I buy a standard microscope since I'm going to be doing science for at least 9th and 10th grade? Obviously I need some help.:001_smile:
AFwife Claire
We get our BJU stuff through www.homesciencetools.com. They even have kits by curriculum, so you can order a kit of stuff for say BJU biology for $209.95, and that would give you everything you needed to do all the labs for that book. (Well, actually a microscope is not included in that.) I don't order the kit because I like to pick and choose a little bit--I teach for a co-op, and so I'm changing around some of the labs. But the website has all the stuff you need at very good prices.
amtmcm
:iagree: I placed a big order with them (including a microscope) and I'm very happy with everything. If you belong to HSLDA, you can email them to receive a discount code for 10% off.

I am just getting ready to order several hundreds of dollars worth, so I really appreciate this tip! Thank you!!
Mom22ns
I will agree with the recommendation of HST, but don't buy the kits. They have things you won't need or probably have and there are things you need not included. Go through the supply list in the TM for BJU and look at all the things it suggest getting at a science supply, then what lab(s) it is used for, decide if you need to buy it and just order those items. You'll spend about the same amount as the kit (at least I do), but you will get a better set of supplies. You can print out the list though, and sometimes that is a helpful overview of things that might be needed. Then I check off what I actually want to buy (and add other things that I think are important). Then you have all the order codes right at your fingertips! disgal
is the whole list in the TM somewhere? I read somewhere that there is a CD with a list on it but I didn't buy the CD. Do I have to go lesson by lesson?
AFwife Claire
is the whole list in the TM somewhere? I read somewhere that there is a CD with a list on it but I didn't buy the CD. Do I have to go lesson by lesson? I have the 10th grade biology text, and it has a very detailed supply list in the back of the teacher's lab manual. For 7th grade life science, the list is in the back of the teacher's edition first book (A), at least for the 3rd edition text.
Mom22ns
You are doing 9th grade, so I am guessing you are doing Physical Science. If you have the current 3rd edition, then it will be in the back of the TM. There is an identical list in the back of both books (A & B). The CD they would be talking about is the one that comes with the TM, so you might check on the TM CD. I use a Mac and the TM CD's are designed to work with Windows, so while I can pull off what I need, they are difficult for me to navigate. I have never found a list of lab supplies, but I could easily have missed it.
