Aubrey
if we can buy the house we're currently renting. I can't believe how much I love this house. It's really not spectacular, but it's my favorite place I've ever lived in my *whole* life. I figure the odds are low, but dh talked to housing this AM, & the guy there gave him the name of the guy to talk to. I feel silly to love a house this much. Esp...well, like I said, it's really not *that* special. Just that much better than previous homes.

Aubrey
I figure it's a long shot, but while I'm a crazy pessimist about most things, when it comes to long shots, I'm nothing but possibilities & optimism. On the down side, the housing office did say that we cannot continue renting the house past about Oct. Unless the higher-ups decide to sell it to us, the lower-downs will need to get it ready for another seminary family.

Aubrey
Yikes. I hope that doesn't happen! Cat Really, that's the most likely scenario. But it doesn't hurt to ask! Boy, the housing office is always surprised by us. We asked for a fence, & they were like, "Gee. Yeah, maybe." They built the fence, & we took them cookies, & they were like, "Wow. Nobody's ever brought us cookies before." When we left our apt, they checked it for damages & said they'd never found one left so clean before. It was scheduled to be ripped out & treated for termites, but it was so clean, they decided to wait.

Giraffe
Dh finally got to talk to the guy: he said no. So back to packing! I'm so sorry! Maybe now that you've found a house that works you'll know what to look for in your next house? Good luck with the packing!
missiemick
Ahh, too bad. Any idea where you're going to start looking for a new one?
Aubrey
Ahh, too bad. Any idea where you're going to start looking for a new one? We found a duplex we really love about 30 min from here, same city. Dh put off calling the guy back because he was so hopeful about not moving, lol. (And grrrrr.) He's filling out the ap now, but the owner told us 3 days ago that he already had several aps. The painting, etc isn't finished, so it's not like the guy's wanting someone in there yesterday, but he's going to look at everybody's credit & pick the best one. Which makes sense, but...I don't know if we have a chance. It really depends on how he looks at it, I guess. Straight score would be good, lol. Rent history would be perfect. Debt to income should be secret, though. Otherwise, we'll apply for stu housing at the school dh will be attending, but the wait is about 6mos, & we have to be out of here sooner than that. :001_huh:

Good luck with the packing! That's really true. Unfortunately, we're not in the income bracket to really make many choices yet. But I am really surprised at what I like, lol: a fenced backyard & a huge dining table (for school, not eating) that looks out over it. Pretty simple, huh? And I'll bring the table!

Catwoman
Well, rats. I'm so sorry. I was hoping it would work out for you, even though it sounded like a long shot. At least you tried. Otherwise, you would have always wondered what would have happened. I hope you find another great place. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Cat

But a terrible time to rent, it seems (nobody's even calling us back!), & renting is really all we can do. (Buying *this* house was a long shot in more ways than one.)
